Recharging batteries

I have considered my PTO (Planned Time Off) in three parts. Family time, Lighthouse hunting and reading. A short post on my time off. I reflect on why time off is good for everyone no matter how focussed they may be on their goals. Time to sharpen the saw is important to everyone.

Ok so, Part 1 Family time: with my family down by the beach and for the most part the weather was nice and pleasant. Time with family is rare when they are grown and so Melanie and I took the opportunity and had a lovely time together. That was Friday- Monday.

Part Two Lighthouse Hunting: Once the kids went home and the rest of our week began we have tasks to do, (beach maintenance tasks, painting, washing, cleaning) The kind of work which helps not only clean the beach house and hut but also clean the mind. However the fun part was the Lighthouse Hunting. I have three Lighthouses on my list which were all fairly local.

This weeks Lighthouses

Lighthouses as you know are my passion and they are the passion. As to why they appeal to me I think I am on record on saying that it is partly that they are a symbol of what some called ‘ the never ceasing watchfulness’ and of the stead fast endurance no matter what the weather. The building and the keeping of the lights are in picturesque locations as you can see and symbolise the humanitarianism of a people. This is why I love these brilliant beacons, these seashaken houses.

Part 3: Reading: When the weather is poor and it is very poor at the moment there can be no nicer and rewarding an endeavour than to read. I am reading the following books at the moment. One fictional and one non fiction.

So in short making the most of a stormy week and taking a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life to recharge our batteries. A holiday offers the perfect opportunity to slow down, relax and focus on other things. By taking this time off I can feel the reduction of stress, increased mental clarity and who knows maybe some inner peace.

This break is helping me gain perspective and reminding me of what is truly important. Prioritizing self-care and taking time to recharge, I will return to your daily life feeling refreshed, re-energized and ready to tackle whatever comes my way. Taking care of your soul is just as important as taking care of your body don’t you think?

Hearty handshakes from me to you
