Beach BBQ done the right way

After missing out of most of the spring summer with Covid-19 I finally spent two weeks Staycation down the beach– and that for me means a beach barbecue!

With West Sussex skies and serene sunsets, all that remains to be perfect is a Beer and a Beach BBQ. Owning a holiday home on the beach has allowed me to get pretty good at grilling next to the sea. I have an outdoor kitchen at our main house and so I can BBQ all year round with some of the best technology available, but back to basics beach cooking is just perfection, I have refined and improved with every BBQ session and so thought it might be good to share on here.

Beach BBQ Essentials

The spy movies I watch have a ‘Go bag’ ready at all times. So do I when it comes to cooking on the rocks, here are :

  • A suitable BBQ – Weber Go Anywhere Grill
  • A BBQ Bag – Bag with cooler
  • Charcoal Chimney –
  • Safety Matches
  • Beach Blanket
  • Plates and Cups
  • Kitchen Roll or Blue Roll
  • Hand Wipes /Hand sanitizer small bottles
  • BBQ tongs
  • BBQ Flipper
  • Knives OR a good pair of kitchen Scissors
  • BBQ Sauce and Rubs
  • Tin Foil
  • Ziplock bags
  • Large bottle of water in case of flare ups or emergency move off the beach
  • Bin Bags

What Else?

  • Don’t forget the Beer, Wine, Gin, Cocktails
  • Never trust a dog to watch your food
  • Don’t rush, the coals must be grey/white not black and flaming still

Please leave the beach as you found it or better!
