The industry of consulting has all sorts of ways to make a client think they know everything. My favourite is when they ask a question with a question. The expectation is that they have paid for consultant and so they should know almost everything and I guess people don’t like to disappoint.
Every now and then I would love to hear someone say “that is a great question, I could attempt to answer it with right now BUT, I would like to give it some further thought and come back to you well considered response”
The world keeps getting faster, there is a shortage of thoughtful, timeless ideas that are worth sharing and when you have a moment that you think deserves pause, you should take the time, in whatever place makes you think and slow think it through.
