Bubbles Up

My favourite singer Jimmy Buffett passed away recently after facing a rare skin cancer for four years. He recorded an album he never got to release and the first song was released this weekend posthumously, I think it’s words are beautiful.

The song is called ‘Bubbles up’ and has a simple special meaning to us Sea loving folk which I wanted share: life is an unpredictable journey, often tossing us into turbulent waters that threaten to capsize our hopes and dreams. All of us sailors know the term “bubbles up” it is a crucial survival strategy for capsized sailors. But beyond the nautical realm, Jimmy uses “bubbles up” to serve as a powerful metaphor for navigating the challenges of life with resilience and determination.

The song offers a reassuring message about finding direction in life and a chorus that takes on new meaning given Buffett’s passing:

“Just know that you are loved, there is light up above, and joy, there’s always enough.”

Equal Strain Album, Jimmy Buffet (RIP)

Life’s storms are inevitable, but how we respond to them defines us. “Bubbles up” reminds us that resilience, determination, and the ability to find our way in the midst of chaos are the keys to surviving and thriving. So, the next time you feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges, remember to keep your “bubbles up” and keep rising toward the surface with unwavering determination.
