In the last eight years I have taken to writing letters, yes that’s right real old fashioned letters. I read through some letters my grandad wrote to our family, how wonderful to see, hold and smell a link to him so many years after he had passed away. The letters were a physical link to a past.
To write is human, to receive a letter: Divine!~SUSAN LENDROTH
So I set about writing my own letters, I have several lovely fountain pen, beautiful stationary and practice my cursive handwriting. Amongst those letters I have taken to write are many thank you notes, I write them to customers, colleagues , family and friends. Below are the type of letters I have written to people that were important to my life:
- Thanking someone who believed in me
- Thanking someone who inspired me
- Thanking someone who rejected me
- Thanking someone who supported me
- Thanking someone who taught me
This has been a great experience, I have enjoyed it immensely, a well written letter with the perfect pen and paper is a joy to send and receive. I have gained a lot from ‘putting pen to paper’ but most surprising it has dramatically strengthened my professional network and elevated me more than the effort it takes for me to write them.
Leaders in business and the community have included me more and sought me out for counsel. It seems taking care to tell those that you appreciate them is rewarding for all. If you read this and you thought of someone to thank, send them a letter or a note today
