This weekend was an important weekend in our home, it is the weekend we put the Christmas decorations away and begin to think of returning to work. As much I love putting up the decorations, I have learned to love when it ends. You have to, if you want to achieve anything in life. So the Phrase TGIM is a family war cry we joke about. Thank God It’s Monday. It is our way of not holding on to the weekend.
If you have have ever felt like the weekend goes so fast and the week days last for ever. Then you know what I am talking about, how it feels to hold on to a moment and dread what comes next. Still, time moves on and you have to get on with things regardless but now you are stumbling, unprepared and look beaten before you have started.
Ultimately, you want to live a life where you don’t wish more than half of it away. Living for the weekend or living for the vacation are common phrases which we must stop using. What good can we do today? What can we contribute to the lives of those around us to make today a masterpiece. Finishing all things is the key to progress, not holding on to the past is important to our future, we should never let yesterday take up too much of today.
In the Kamigata area they have a sort of tiered lunchbox the Samurai use for a single day when flower viewing. Upon returning, they throw them away, trampling them underfoot. To a Samurai, the end is important in all things.
