Story

Storytelling is more important than you might think and it effects you more than you might realise. This is my ‘Personal goal for 2021’ learn as much about story telling, how it can improve my life, my relationships, How can it help my business goals.

When and why is story more effective in persuasion? I see more often than not that when people want to advocate for an idea they seek out compelling facts, figures to convince a person of its veracity and virtue. however, neuroscience research show that in fact our brains are not hardwired to retain logic or facts for long, but our brain is perfect for retaining stories.

Let me ask you a question. How many of your presentations and pitches actually have a story? how effective is that story? How many lean on facts, figures and graphics more than the actual story.

One example of how story telling has effected me personally this year is to think of my days and weeks not in terms of good and bad things that happen to me but as highs and lows I experience as part of an ever evolving story which I can influence. If this resonates with you, think about how better storytelling might improve your personal and work life. Find a way to be memorable, make that personal connection with people, go tell a story.
