28 years of partnership

My Grandad Dennis would tell me when I was just a young man “Who you marry is the most important decision you’ll ever make! so make sure you marry well” He married my Nan Elsie who was the most loving person ever so he knows what he was talking about.

I am also very fortunate, 28 years ago I married the most wonderful woman. Melanie is without a doubt my better half. She makes me a better man and is a constant inspiration to me. She is a hard worker, she is super smart and has a smile to light up a room.

I know I am not what I ought to be, not what I want to be, but I am better than I would have been if I she had not come into my life 30+ years ago.

To me ‘Marry well” was a very wise piece of advice but it doesn’t have to mean just a life partner—it also means who you work with, who you choose as a friend, even the people you choose to be around.

Make good choices with those that you spend your time with. You need partners in your life that see good things for you. Align yourself with partners that you can learn from, partners who want more out of life, partners who are stretching and searching and seeking some higher ground in life.

  1. I couldn’t agree more! Both my mom and grandmom were in bad marriages and I saw first hand throughout my childhood how miserable they felt. Therefore, it was always my top priority to find a life partner with whom I could truly feel loved and cared for. Lucky for me, I found my husband 12 years ago. His kindness and compassion amaze me every single day and he truly inspires me to be a better version of myself.
